David J. O'Brien, CPA

David is founder and President of Real World Training. He is an award-winning speaker and has written more than 20 books on how to best use QuickBooks. He has been teaching QuickBooks since 1994 and has taught over 25,000 students! When not teaching QuickBooks, David spends much of his time watching Dora the Explorer and Nemo with his 3-year old daughter, Isabella, and his lovely wife, Lisa-Adelle. David lives in Dallas, Texas. 

Brad White

Brad is Chief Operations Officer of Real World Training. He has Brad is Chief Operations Officer of Real World Training. He has consulted with thousands of QuickBooks users. Brad is a former small business owner with extensive real world experience. He uses this experience to help students get the most out of QuickBooks.  Brad spends much of his time riding bicycles with his 5-year old twin girls, Ashley and Avery, and his 3-year old son, Aiden. Brad calls Plano, Texas home.

Trevor Matheson

Trevor is the Vice President of Product Development for Real World Training. Trevor has been teaching QuickBooks since 1997 and consistently impresses audiences with his in-depth product knowledge and entertaining speaking style.     The online Mastering QuickBooks class is a great way to learn QuickBooks from the comfort of your home or office. And, it is a very close match to the live classroom experience. You view the live QuickBooks training on your own computer screen. At the same time, you listen to the instructor via the telephone as we guide you step-by-step through using QuickBooks confidently. You are provided with 2 free learning manuals for the QuickBooks class. You use these comprehensive, exclusive manuals to follow along with the course. Many students also have QuickBooks running in the background. That way, they can switch back and forth between the class and QuickBooks to practice what they learn.
  • Do you cover the same material in the online version and "in-person" version of Mastering QuickBooks?
    Yes...we cover the same topics in the online version and "in-person" version of Mastering QuickBooks.
  • Why would I take an online course instead of an "in-person" course?
    There are several reasons why some users prefer the online QuickBooks courses rather than the "in-person" QuickBooks training classes:

    - Sometimes, it"s just refreshing to get away from the office for a couple of days. It can serve to rejuvenate you. It"s a great way to learn QuickBooks.
  • What do I need to take the online QuickBooks training class?
    You need a computer with a high-speed internet connection. And, you need an open phone line to listen to the QuickBooks training instructor. We recommend that you use a speakerphone or headset for the course. That"s because holding the receiver for a full day makes it difficult to take notes and practice what you learn.
  • Do I need QuickBooks on my computer to take the online QuickBooks course?
    No...you do not need QuickBooks on your computer. You do need additional software to take the course. However, this is quickly and easily installed at the beginning of the online QuickBooks class.
  • I didn"t receive my class confirmation. What should I do?

  • Do I need to install special software to attend the online QuickBooks training class?
    After signing up, you receive a link to the training via email. On the day of the seminar, you open the email and click the link...sending you directly to the seminar. This automatically installs the software you need to attend the class.
  • I"m having difficulty connecting to the live QuickBooks class. What should I do?
    Call "WEBEX" at 866-229-3239. They can assist you with technical problems on the day of the class.
  • What happens after I enroll in the online class?
    After signing up, you receive an e-mail that includes details concerning your online QuickBooks training class. It includes the toll-free teleconference phone number. The e-mail also includes the appropriate link to download your comprehensive QuickBooks learning manuals for Day 1 and Day 2. Then, it includes the link you click to attend the seminar on the day of the QuickBooks class. Please click this link 20 minutes before the scheduled start time. This automatically installs the software you need to attend the QuickBooks training class.
  • Do I need to print the QuickBooks training manual before the online class starts?
    After you enroll in the online QuickBooks training class, you receive a confirmation e-mail that includes a link to download the class manuals. Most users do print the manuals before the class. After you download the manuals, double-click on each document and select Print from the File menu.
  • What time does the Mastering QuickBooks Online class start and end? Do we get a lunch break?
    Each day of the online seminar will begin at 9:30 AM CENTRAL STANDARD TIME (10:30 EST, 7:30 PST) and will go to 5:00 PM. Lunch is on your own from 12:30-1:30. Please log-in at least 20 minutes early to ensure your computer has the web-meeting software installed prior to the start of the seminar. The software is installed automatically when you click the link in your email confirmation.
  • I missed my QuickBooks class because of illness. What can I do? Can I attend the next one?

Who should attend Mastering QuickBooks?

  • Which version of QuickBooks do you teach in your QuickBooks classes?
    We always teach the most current version of the software. If you do not have the latest version, do not worry. The instructor will point out the differences between the current version and the version you are using. The older versions work in the same basic fashion...so the techniques you learn will not be wasted.
  • I use QuickBooks Pro. Will the Mastering QuickBooks seminar benefit me?
    We use QuickBooks Premier in the QuickBooks course. This is basically the same software as QuickBooks Pro with a few extra features added. Your instructor will point out the differences. 98% of what you learn applies to QuickBooks Pro.
  • I use QuickBooks Premier. Is the Mastering QuickBooks class right for me?
    Yes. We use QuickBooks Premier in the QuickBooks class.
  • Does the class cover the newest version of QuickBooks?
    Yes!
  • I use an industry specific version of QuickBooks...is your QuickBooks class designed for me?

However, there are many differences between QuickBooks Online Edition and the QuickBooks software we use to teach the class. Therefore, it is not recommended for users of QuickBooks Online Edition.
  • My company uses QuickBooks for the Macintosh. Will your QuickBooks classes work in my case?
    A few of our students in our live QuickBooks classes use the QuickBooks for the Macintosh. However, the differences between the Macintosh version of QuickBooks and the Windows version of QuickBooks are significant. Therefore, we offer a special course for Macintosh users.   • I've decided to attend Day 1. Can I decide during Day 1 whether to attend Day 2 and just pay the difference between the Both days price and the Day 1 price?
    Yes. Just call our office at 800-564-2688 to sign up for Day 1. Then, provide a form of payment to pay for the difference after Day 1 is complete.

    Our seminar will show you how to master QuickBooks and make it really work for your company. Click the Topics Covered tab above to see a list of subjects you learn.
  • How many students will be in my QuickBooks class?
    Our class size varies. They average about 25 students each.
  • What do I receive when I attend the Mastering QuickBooks seminar?
    You receive a detailed reference guide/workbook for each day of the QuickBooks class you attend. You receive an e-mail confirmation that includes instructions for downloading these learning manuals. They include the steps for completing everything we teach in the QuickBooks seminar.
  • Can I record the online QuickBooks training?
    Our QuickBooks classes are copyrighted. Therefore, you can not record the class.
  • Do we get a lunch break?
    Yes. Lunch is from 12:30 to 1:30 (Central Standard Time).
  • Do I receive the workbooks before the QuickBooks class?
    Yes. Your e-mail confirmation includes instructions for downloading the manuals. You should do this prior to the start of the QuickBooks class.
  • What can I do to get ready for the QuickBooks course?
    No formal preparation is needed. You might find it useful to start making a list of questions to ask the instructor. Have the list available on the day of your QuickBooks course. Our instructors stay as late as is needed to make sure all of your questions are answered.
  • Should I attend the online QuickBooks training seminar AND buy the QuickBooks training products?

  • Is there enough time at the QuickBooks training class for questions?
    There is as much time for questions as you need! After each chapter, we pause until all questions are answered for that chapter. Then, we have an optional question and answer session at the end of the day. We do not leave until each and every one of your questions is answered!
  • Are your instructors qualified to instruct me in QuickBooks?

    No. The purpose of our QuickBooks classes is to teach you how to use QuickBooks effectively in your business. This information is no substitute for the advice of your own CPA.   • What is a CPE credit?
    CPE stands for Continuing Professional Education. Many professionals are required to take a certain number of hours of educational instruction per year to maintain their designation (such as C.P.A., C.F.P, C.F.A.). Our courses qualify for CPE credit.
  • Do I receive CPE credits for attending the online QuickBooks seminar?
    Right now, we do not offer CPE credits for the online version of Mastering QuickBooks. We are in the process of filing the appropriate paperwork to do so. However, we do offer CPE credits on the "in-person" version of Mastering QuickBooks. For that class, you receive 14 hours of CPE credits for attending both days . If you attend one day of the QuickBooks class, you will receive 7 hours of CPE credit. Before you leave the seminar, the instructor will provide you with the CPE certificate.
